Webquest on The Dynamic Crust

Plate Tectonics:
The Rocky History of an Idea

Introduction
Imagine you are about to complete a four-year college degree to become a certified teacher. All you have left to do is successfully teach a class of teenagers a lesson in science. Sounds easy enough!? Your team will first need to learn the material well and then design a way to teach it. After you teach your class, you will create a way to find out if they learned the concepts. Remember, be creative and detail-oriented because without a good grade on this assignment, you may not get your teaching diploma.
Task
1. Each group must research and answer their set of questions. Each set of questions has links to web sites that will be helpful. You can use other sources too (ex. reputable web sites, text books, on-line articles etc.). Record your sources as you research because you must cite them.
2. Your group must discuss the answers together so that everyone understand the material and agrees the information is accurate. Also, a teammate could be absent on the day you teach it and all members must feel comfortable discussing and teaching the concepts.
3. Your group of student teachers will design a lesson to teach the class your assigned material. Be creative. The lesson could be a skit, group activity, power point presentation, web page, lecture, a video, demonstration or a combination of things. Remember back to when you were in high school and ask yourselves: How did I like to be taught? (If you want help from experts, search the Internet by typing:lesson plan + whatever your teaching.
4. TEACH IT.
5. Create some way to check to see if the class learned what they were supposed to learn. As a teacher, its important to know if your lesson was successful. You can make a graded assignment of some kind and it will count toward the students' quarterly averages.
