• Online Weather Guide by the University of Illinois has excellent explanations and diagrams of weather concepts.
• National Weather Service has the latest warnings, local radar and detailed forecasts.

  • Awesome Rock Site from Mrs. Thompson's class
  • TSUNAMI - This is USGS' site for this earthquake related event.
  • TopoZone.com Contour (topographic) maps of anyhwere. If you like maps, this is the site.
  • Topographic maps from the USGS (US Geologic Service).
  • Savage Earth is PBS' site for some of Earth's most devasting events - good video descriptions.
  • Volcano World is the most complete site on geology and volcanoes. Designed for young people.
  • Microscope views of Igneous and Metamorphic rocks. by the University of North Carolina.
  • Metamorphic rocks are explained very well here in understandable terms.
  • National Parks - Visit this site to learn more about the USA's incredible geologic assets.
  • Mineral Galleries - See minerals and their properties.
  • Virtual Earthquake - This is a great site and if you do this "lab" and hand it in, I will grade it as a lab.
  • USGS - Plate Tectonics - This is a fantastic piece on this very important geologic concept.

  • APOD - Astronomy picture of the day
  • The Hubble Project - This project has changed our perceptions of the universe forever. Never before have we had such images of deep space.
  • International Space Station information and where you can see it in the night sky.

  • EPOD stands for Earth Science Picture of the Day. "They" say a picture is worth a thousand words.
  • Google Earth A free downloadable program that provide satellite images of the entire Earth (anywhere!).
  • Earth Shots Work with satellite images of different earth locations that show environmental change over time.

  • Cathy Law's Excellent Site This is a great site. So great that I "borrow" (with Cathy's permission) some of her notes and links.
  • Fox Lane HS has a great science site for earth and environmental sciences.
  • Earth Science Teacher is the title of a site that is put up by Chris Visco. It has excellent resources.
  • Water in the Earth System is a fantastic resource. It is put up by the National Science Foundation and the American Meteorological Society.

  • WebquestsA webquest is a self contained lesson on the world wide web. This is a link to the original creators of webquests, which includes hundreds example to use.
  • On-line labs: Geology Labs On-Line is a comprehensive project to develop Web-based lab activities.(Students - this is an extra credit opportunity!!)
